Bellinger signs with the Cubs for $80 million/3 years with opt outs after year 1 and 2.  

Does this portend the kind of contracts Boras’ other three free agents will sign?  Does this bring Zaidi to the table?  

I would still like to see Montgomery and/or Chapman sign with the Giants.

Still a big number, $30 mms. this year, same next year...but not the 12 years/$264 million -- the highest media number I saw tied to Bellinger.

Montgomery's basically a #3 starter...and Chapman -- tough call. Davis's 1st half was better than Chapman's year (x .5), but Davis just tanked so badly in the second half. 

Still, the Giant's spring training games to date (0-1-1) look as miserable as I thought they would. Melvin sounds slightly alarmed.

The combination of the Dodgers closing their wallet after Ohtani and Yamamoto, Yankee uncertainty and the collapse of the regional television structure has resulted in a free agent market that favors short, high dollar contracts.  One might think that SF would be a player in this type of environment.  I guess not…….
