At this point, it appears Ahmed will be the #1 SS. I think Luciano needs more seasoning. He may start the season in Sacramento.
I think Davis can count on being traded. He has no position with the Giants. SF will find him a team that will give him a shot at starting. Flores/Wade will platoon at 1B, Estrada at 2B, Ahmed/?? at SS and Chapman at 3B.
Outfield — Conforto (LF), Lee (CF) Yaz/Slater (RF) with the fifth spot still to be determined.
C — Bailey, Murphy.
Pitching: It is anyone’s guess. Both the SP and Bullpen have many ???? (especially with Hjelle now out with a sprained elbow). The only thing we know for certain is Webb is the #1 and Doval is the closer.
Luciano struck out three times today, and he's batting .077. Eight total strikeouts in 13 plate appearances. Yikes.
Does Soler count as the fifth OF spot?
BTW, Philly just signed former SFG draftee Zack Wheeler to three years/ $126 million. Wheeler won his max of 14 games in one season. He won 13 games in a season once. He won 12 games. Twice. And he won 11 games, twice. His ERA has increased each of the last two years, to 3.61 last year.
Good question. It depends on whether you want to carry 12 or 13 pitchers. I’m guessing SF will carry 13 to start the season because of the lack of SP’s who can be counted to go 7+ innings. Therefore, pencil Soler in as the fifth OF.
