I agree on your ACC point, CC. Let them tout this as the ACC has not been in this position before.    

I wouldn't mind the Pac12 putting out a final count on it's website touting the Pac12's dominance in medal count in Paris.  It would be a nice way to go out on top!

I think it makes sense for the ACC to celebrate the accomplishments of Stanford's athletes (rather than the Pac12). These medal counts are really about celebrating the overall excellence of the athletic programs of its current member institutions.  I don't think any conference would (or could) claim to have directly made Valarie Allman a good discuss thrower.

I believe the official end date for the Pac12 occurred half way through the Paris Olympics.   My thought was that both the Pac12 and the ACC could share their medal count numbers.  There would be no harm from my perspective and it would be a nice final statement on the strength of the former Pac12 in terms of impact on the Olympics.

The PAC12 died the moment USC and UCLA left. Or maybe it died when the Presidents listened to Larry 
Scott. Or when we failed to bring Texas and Oklahoma into the conference .   I don’t like it but that is what happened. Stanford clung to the idea of a “different” PAC12 way too long and almost got left out with WSU and OSU.  Whatever Stanford can do to enhance the ACC is in Stanfords best interest. One more effort to build a memory of a dead conference does no one any good.

Don’t get me wrong; i loved the  PAC 8,10,and 12 . But it failed and Stanford must focus on its future . Right now , that’s the ACC. In five years?   No one knows.
