The Giants were 19th in MLB with a 4.10 team ERA (though 6th in FIP of 3.80). After the All-Star break, their team ERA was 3.63, 10th in the Majors, FIP of 3.62, third best.
I'm sure they thought they'd get more than 150 combined innings from Blake Snell, Robbie Ray, Alex Cobb and Tristan Beck. Or that Keaton Winn would go 3-8 (7.16 ERA). Or that Doval would tank, or that Luke Jackson would have a 5.40 ERA. Or that 31 different pitchers would pitch, including Tyler Fitzgerald (3 appearances), and Mike Yastrzemski.
Was thinking about the 2021 season when the Giants finished 2nd in MLB in ERA, FIP, WHIP and runs allowed per game. Brian Bannister was their pitching director, and he's on the market. Why is he on the market? Because he spent this past season helming the White Sox's pitching staff, leading them to the 28th best performance in MLB. Maybe he's not the one...

Looks like they're promoting J. P. Martinez, assistant pitching coach over the past four years, into the pitching coach role.
