I don’t put too much stock in Manager of the Year awards.  

Bruce Bochy and Gabe Kapler have the same number of MOTY awards (1).  That tells me everything one needs to know about the award.  

Vogt did a great job in the regular season but he had a poor post-season.  Like so many rookie managers he exhibited a tendency to over manage when the spotlight became brighter.  His pitching changes were too frequent and costly.  

I ‘m sure he learned some valuable lessons and won’t be so anxious to use the hook next time.  

By the way, Bob Melvin has won the award three times.  Hmmmm…

Yeah. Same as Dusty Baker. And probably way too much for a guy who has won one postseason series in a 22-year managing career. At least Vogt won his post-season series in his first season. And the Guardians did bounce back from a 2-1 deficit in the ALDs, so...probably did some decent managing along the way. Still, to your point, I doubt Vogt will pitch Tanner Bibee to Giancarlo Stanton again any time soon.

Speaking of which...I wouldn't be too quick to dump on Vogt. He improved his team by 16 games, third most among all 30 MLB teams...and the team just in front of him was the woeful Oakland Sacramento A's. And his young team -- it was supposed to be a rebuilding year -- adored him.
