searching for a modicum of solace, maybe our playing the game right at the end of finals week had an effect in terms of practice, preparation, conditioning, sleep? Cal had an actual dead week, with finals next week. (Of course we have played in March Madness just after finals, but the players' winter quarter class load presumably was much lighter)
