Somehow I listened on the radio. Must have been Easter Break or some non-school day.

Or had the transistor radio in your pocket with an earpiece wired up through the shirt. Remember those days with the A's in the playoffs and series. . . .

LOL I do remember I was home that day in '58.  Heaven only knows why. I'm pretty sure I had all the baseball cards for the opening lineup.

Transistor radio didn't play a role for me until the '62 Series.  Everyone was tuned in except for the class nerd who was listening to Wally Schirra's orbital mission.  Our HS PE coaches let us watch on an old B&W TV in the gym instead of doing jumping jacks and running laps.

By the time the A's got good I had already graduated from LSJU.
