Lots of them were destroyed in action, but even more were undoubtedly lost due to no maintenance, no spare parts, and "old age". Not that it appears to matters much. Their "meat attacks" continue and they don't require IFVs. It just means they will advance even slower because they have to walk. War is always a catastrophe but this one is worse than many.
