Thanks Goose for the drone posts.  About eight years ago my company did some R & D work for Raytheon on a variant of their “Coyote” drone.  We made electrical cable assemblies with composite, micro-miniature connectors for testing and also fiber optic cables for evaluation.  

Even back then Raytheon was really big on using COTS components but it always seemed like new programs needed some special features or size requirements that weren’t available on off-the-shelf products.
