Hopefully Ukraine knows what it is doing. Sometimes letting your opponent advance in order to cut off one arm of the pincer is a good tactic. Ukraine can't afford to lose lots of troops, so let us hope this is a tactic and not a tactical reverse. I have no idea how well Ukraine is prepared to retreat from the emergent pocket, but that doesn't sound like something they would be good at. Evacuations are always dangerous and Ukrainian units as a rule do not posses enough organic transport to do so rapidly.
