If it's a hitter, I'll go with Bonds' 73 HR year. Backup choice is Ted Williams. Third choice, Rickey Henderson.

EDIT: I had to look it up. I have no idea what goes into WAR. I do know now that Jim Palmer's 1975 record of 23-11/2.09 ERA is considered far more valuable than McLain's 31-6/1.96 ERA record. Also that Koufax's best WAR years were '63 and '66. So I give up on WAR...
