For those who follow college volleyball nationally, here's a tidbit of interest. One of the best setters in the country, Izzy Starck of Penn State, posted last night she is taking a pause from volleyball for the rest of the season to deal with her mental health.
On a Penn State vb message board there were a lot of posts starting out "Best wishes for a speedy recovery" and then were not so kind for a variety of reasons. Here are some examples:
She posted her resignation message at the start of a big game between PSU and Kentucky. The team had previously been told she was taking one week off. Many fans thought the post could have been made after the game. Also her post did not mention her team or coaches.
She removed her Penn State association from the top of her instagram account and deleted the past year's posts relating to Penn State and its national championship year.
It's now posted by some fans that some of her teammates have unfollowed her on Instagram. I don't know if that means anything or not. I do agree with the consensus that she won't be coming back to Penn State.
