Parks is still a freshman. Agree she is a step back from what we were used to with ACC Setter of the Year Kami Miner, who was outstanding even as a freshman (she won Pac-12 freshman of the year in 2021), but I think it is a bit too early to conclude she *is* mediocre, as opposed to her play to date has been mediocre.
FWIW, Stanford is hitting .294 this year, which is actually better than Miner's freshman year (.281). As I am sure you will rightly note, there is a lot to go into that stat, especially passing (not to mention the quality of opponent, though we've played three top-10 teams so far), but I think it is important to place things in perspective; this team looks to be close to the median in terms of overall hitting percentage of the last 13 seasons (the stats on gostanford go back to 2012), and the overall team looks to be comparable to what we've seen lately (top-10 but not final-four caliber). We all wish it would be better, but I don't think you can be a top-10 team with a mediocre setter.
