After this win Stanford is #7 in unofficial NCAA RPI.   I expect Stanford will be the #8 seed due to less than stellar record against top 25 teams.

It will be interesting to see how things go.  In Stanford’s favor is the fact that we were the ACC champions with a head-to-head win against the co-champion (Pitt), and that all four of our losses were against top-10 teams, including the top 2 teams by RPI.  Against us is the fact that we only played two matches against teams in the 10-25 range, so we only have a .500 record against top-25 teams, and that SMU, who is currently #8 in RPI, beat us (at Stanford).  It would be defensible for the committee to swap SMU and Stanford, though SMU has its own warts (including a loss to #49 North Carolina).

I think we probably stay ahead of them, given that Stanford lost to four teams with an average RPI of 5, while the average RPI of the five teams SMU lost to was 15.  The two teams had about the same RPI of opponents they beat (95 for SMU, 96 for Stanford).  So this really does become how much you weigh the head-to-head matchup.

I don’t think Louisville (who we just beat), or ASU would leapfrog us.
