Also I was disappointed with the guard play. Clardy had an assist to TO ratio of 1.2 to 1 this season after 1.67 to 1 last year. Swain was 0.6 to 1. The offense really needed a trigger to make it go that Stanford did not have.
Maybe if Susan Rice had been able to convince Kiki Rice to join Lauren Betts at Stanford, and we had been able to give Betts a better home, they would be seniors here. Meanwhile, I watched a qtr of UCLA vs Iowa today and hadn't realized they also picked up Utah's Knepkens(sp) and that terrific Wash State pg from NZealand. Yikes. That's 3 pretty good guards.
You are talking about Gianna (Utah) and Charlisse (WSU). I met Gianna and her family in Columbus after they defeated Ohio State in an incredibly close game during pre-conference. She and Charlisse have been the difference makers in UCLA's attack. Charlisse is a better ball handler than Kiki and has a stronger frame. She lacks the explosiveness of Rice, but she can weave her way to the basket and absorb more contact. Gianna shoots the hell out of the ball. Bruins did not have a player like her in the last few seasons.
Yep, they are loaded.
