She attempted 124 threes this past season, and made 36. To my eye, many of those threes were pure free lance, not the play drawn up.
By comparison, Nneka shot only 28 threes in her entire LSJU career, Chiney 19, Appel just 3. Brink shot 177 threes, made less than 30%, and has endorsements, tv commercials and magazine covers.
Agree that Somfai shooting threes almost always looked like Not-the-play this season. As when Cam Brink would also put up a lot more than I thought really fit well. I realize a big at least showing as a three threat can help draw out the Defense. But if that collapses into the big actually taking a lot of threes I think it's a problem. In fact there's 2 problems with college bigs shooting a lot of threes in my mind, a) usually (for most bigs) their shooting percentage isn't that good, b) you have removed potentially your best offensive rebounder from the play. Seeing a college O where the bigs are shooting up a lot of threes almost always feels like a failed offense scheme to me.
