So Stanford does not include coaches. Got it. 

Courtney’s message “To my Coaches, thank you for the chance to compete and be part of the women’s basketball program. This experience has challenged me on so many levels and helped me learn more about myself in ways that will stay with me.” Sounds like a good college experience. 

I’m here just trying to understand if there is a problem within the Stanford Women’s Basketball program. Seems like a lot of unsubstantiated rumors without any facts.

Nobody needs to prove or convince you because your opinion doesn’t matter. None of our opinions matter unless we personally decide to no longer support the program or alternatively decide to contribute to funding whatever fixes are needed to compete successfully.

What will you do?

The players’ opinions matter the most and right now they’re giving up on a dream they worked really hard to make a reality. They had to get good grades, take AP courses, etc. and play basketball at the highest level. They had to work hard at Stanford in the classroom and on the court. And for many of them they are giving up a Stanford degree and all the friends they made. They are making that decision with thought and deciding that staying in the Stanford WBBall program is not worth it. I’m sorry that’s the case. I wish they could stay; but I support their decision, thank them for all they gave to Stanford, and wish them the best in their journey.

I love Stanford sports because of the amazing student athletes - not because of the coaches. I love the coaches that can recruit student athletes I can be proud of, and inspire, motivate, teach, mentor and help their student athletes love their Stanford experience and along the way help them grow, elevate their long-term trajectory, and realize their dreams.

I don’t see that with Stanford WBBall right now. I do with other sports at Stanford and WBBall at other schools.

I think this is well stated and I agree with it completely. I've followed Stanford Women's basketball since 1978 and have been a season ticket holder since 1990. My participation and viewing will definitely change if the allegations are true, just as I stopped watching during the last years (1983-86) of the coach before Tara.
