So you thought Mbappe and France were classless losers for not staying on the field in 2022 to clap for Argentina lifting the trophy?

I'm not sure why you focus on this one narrow point while ignoring the bigger picture (and numerous incidents) regarding Argentina's behavior on Sunday, and I know that your passion for the team will not allow me to convince you, but here goes:

No team is obliged to stay on the field and applaud the team that defeated them. In fact it would be unusual to do so in most sports, tennis being an exception. But imagine if at the most recent Super Bowl the Seahawks went up to the podium to receive their trophy from Roger Goodell, and instead of having gone back to their locker room the Patriots had walked over to their fans and got them to sing and make noise to drown out the trophy presentation. Or imagine at the Open (aka British Open) last week if Bryson DeChambeau picked the exact moment when Ryan Fox is receiving the Claret Jug to get his fans to start yelling and chanting "Bryson Bryson" or whatnot. In any case, of Argentina's transgressions on Sunday (and previously) this one barely makes the list.

Anyway, we are not going to convince each other about their behavior being acceptable or not. I'm glad that you are passionate about the sport, we all have our preferences. As for Argentina's popularity you can google polls about what team fans want least to win. But so what? I'm pretty sure that Argentina revels in their villain role and uses it for motivation, so they are actually happy to be disliked. As you've pointed out (and demonstrate personally) they have incredibly loyal and supportive fans (perhaps the strongest in the world) so they are surely not worried about neutrals' antipathy towards them.
