This seems very complicated for Stanford given how hard it has been traditionally to get admitted into a grad program.
I may be misremembering, but I think they made some change where a grad could take classes without being admitted to a traditional program...??? I think the part of my memory that I'm fairly certain is correct is that if Fran Belibi had graduated last year, she would be able to do the type of program she did at Harvard for a year.
