Correction on both players.

Peters was traded by SF to Tampa for Brett Wisely.  Subsequently, his contract was sold by the Rays to the White Sox.

Lopez was waived by SF.   He was selected through the waiver process by Miami.

In other words, the Giants were not fleeced by anyone.  Things are not going great now but there is no reason to rewrite history to build on a negative narrative.

What's the positive narrative for letting two talented 2026 All-Stars -- slip through your fingers?

I have no problem at all with either guy moving on.  Lopez was a flyer signed during spring training and put on waivers before the end of that same spring training.  He had no track record that indicated he would be a good player.  

Peters was acquired by SF from Milwaukee for a low level pitcher.  Three months later, he was dealt to Tampa for a fringe big leaguer.  Again, he had no track record of success.  

In other words, both guys were nothing more than part of the never ending whirlpool of players that came and went during the Zaidi era.  To single out two guys out of who knows how many players is weak.  Overall, Zaidi’s track record was terrible. The reason the Giants are in the mess they currently find themselves is Zaidi.  He was too busy playing fantasy baseball (by wheeling and dealing at edges) when he should have been focusing on drafting and developing talent.
