Second World Series featuring two teams that have never won it were the New York Giants versus the Philadelphia Athletics in 1905. Giants versus A's!
Giants won it.

Great series. Christy Mathewson pitched three complete-game shutouts, 27 innings, 14 hits, zero runs.
BTW, if you ever want to see some pretty good baseball but avoid the exorbitant prices, the San Jose Giants will have a very good team next year, likely with some of the best prospects in baseball -- not unlike the 2009 SJ Giants which had Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, Madison Bumgarner, Sergio Romo and a dozen other future and former MLB players. The 2026 San Jose Giants won the California League by nine games with an 80-52 record. Fun fact: their BBQ area is "Turkey Mike's" named after Turkey Mike Donlin, who played for San Jose in 1898 before he went on to stardom with the New York Giants.
