The fourth inning was both weird and a disaster. Somehow Stanford gave up 11 runs on only 4 hits - without even committing an error. That seems just about impossible. Of course there were also 4 walks, 3 hit batters, and the four hits were a HR and three doubles.
Outside the fourth it was a dominating performance, though that gets dangerously close to saying something like "outside of losing they would have won". Stanford scored every inning but the ninth, and even there they loaded the bases. Stanford put an amazing 34 runners on base, but left half of those there. On the defense side, outside the fourth, Stanford gave up only 3 hits but 6 walks and committed no errors in the game.
Fourth game in a week is going to be tough on the pitching staff this year, though it's tough on most college staffs. Stanford only faces that a few more times this year: another four game series next weekend vs. UC Irvine, then during conference play only three weekday games - two are non-conference games vs. cal.
And there actually was a live stream of the game, it just wasn't linked on the Stanford home page. I found it going through the USF site. Better quality production that Saturday's.
