Gosh, we’ve missed on a LOT of recruits in this class. Thought Dunn would pick Stanford. I don’t think we are a favorite for any one of the remaining targets either.

I remain hopeful that when all is said and done we will have another amazing recruiting class. We should be at our strongest ever recruiting wise. You get an amazing Stanford education. We just won a national championship. Very much a team focus vs star player focus. And you know you are going to be playing with very talented teammates like #1 recruit Betts.

I am somewhat more cautious. I thought we were in a similar situation a decade ago. Even though we didn't have a national title then, we had gone to five straight Final Fours, was seen as one of the few challengers to UConn's dominance and we had the star power of the Ogwumikes, but it took us 7 recruiting classes after Chiney to land another top-10 recruit in Williams.
You can never be too sure, while we have been very lucky in landing a series of top recruits recently, including a top-3 in three of the last four recruiting classes, you can never tell when the well might dry up suddenly and unexpectedly.

+1. I actually think the problem is almost the opposite: apart from PGs, we're really stacked into the foreseeable future for players 6'0" and taller. Do we really need another 6'2" shooting guard? (Which is what Dunn is.) I'd say not! If I'm not looking to play the 1 or 2 and I'm looking for playing time, I'm not sure Stanford is a great fit for 2022 recruits.

Because this is a small numbers game (there are a limited number of difference makers in each class), the combination of admissions and player preferences are going to result in "lumpy" recruiting. Some years we will get a bunch of great recruits in a short period of time; other periods we will have what looks like a multi-year drought.

I think there is room for another 4/5. In the 2020-2022 classes we only have 3 forwards/posts (Brink, Iriafen and Betts). We need at least one more in case of foul trouble or injuries.
And yes the greatest need are at PG, 3-point shooting and defending opposing guards like Aari McDonald.

Three point shooting Jana is solid. Bringing the ball down the court I don't think she is at the same level as Kiana. Jana will have had time to work on her game and if she is a starter that consistency and confidence will help her game.
Between Jana and Jones I like Jana better to bring the ball down the court. Jones is fantastic much of the time but she also tends to get a little out of control when moving into multiple defenders. I expect Jones to have another big step forward in progress.

I love Jana and her game. I just wished she had shown a little more quickness this past year, especially on defense. That said, typically the biggest leap forward is from Frosh to Soph years, so I’m excited to see where her game is at as the seasons begins. She has displayed Sniezek-like passing skills and a Karlie-like touch from the outside. Fingers crossed that it all starts to come together soon.
