Oh, that's what that cheer was! I saw folks organizing it but couldn't make out the key words.

Was it Juju who had an article from a few years ago calling Stanford her dream school or am I confusing her with another LA prospect in one of these classes?
This is what I was thinking of.

Here is a different link that I think is pretty old. I remember seeing it at least a couple years ago. She does say Stanford is where she hopes to continue her education.
Watkins is so so so good. How many HS players get NIL deals with Nike? If she picks us, we probably become title favorites immediately with our all supporting cast talent. She is program changing good and will make an impact right away.

thanks for the link. if she comes, she will hopefully offset the significant loss of haley. similar position.

I’m trying to think of a comp for Watkins but I don’t think Stanford has ever had a pure scorer like her. The best comp I can think of is Maya Moore.

I agree 100%. She reminds me of Maya Moore. She’s a much better perimeter shooter than Haley Jones. Some years the top recruit in the class is great but less impactful. I see Watkins as very impactful anywhere she goes. She will be a WNBA star some day. I really think so.

maybe juju is indeed the next maya moore, but "some years the top recruit in the class is...less impactful"...really? seems you are forgetting that haley (the top recruit i presume you are referencing) led the team to a national championship and won final 4 mvp?" i'll take that kind of impact any day.

Really Jonnyss? Wow. Do NOT take my comment out of context. I did not say Haley Jones was not impactful. This is a Stanford board so why would I throw our own players under the bus and a player that helped accomplish what you mentioned. I said some years the top recruit is less impactful. Mercedes Russel, Megan Walker, Christian Williams come to mind. Great players but not the level of a Maya Moore, Griner, or Breanna Stewart. JuJu is in the latter category.

Jones and Watkins are different kinds of players. Jones is special because of her versatility. She reminds me of WNBA star Alyssa Thomas who is not the best shooter but is still a great player. Perhaps a better example of a top high school player who struggled to make a big impact in college (even though she was still a very good player) was UConn’s Megan Walker.

yeah, interesting to see if after freshman year she heads back to TX (given all the theories about her wanting to stay in TX -- but maybe now that CoVid isn't such a big issue people might actually WANT to leave their state). On another note, if you are actually in Boston, we should PM as my husband and I just relocated from the Bay Area to the Boston area!

I’d say that Duke or Notre Dame would be front runners. If I were a betting man, it would be Duke. I’d guess that UCLA or Stanford have a long shot, but I could also be way off.

I just looked at her social media (IG) and she still follows the Stanford WBB and UCLA. No Duke, ND, Kara Lawson nor Niele Ivey.
I have not followed her recruitment at all so no idea who she picks. I don’t think she visited this fall..?so seems unlikely to be us but social media says different possibly.
