Anybody in there? Guess the “crowd.”
Williams is horrible. Can’t cover, can’t tackle. Last line of defense is Swiss cheese.

Much harder to get in the stadium than for any other game for some reason, so the crowd was still arriving in the second quarte3r.I think it might have been a bit more, maybe 35, 36K. It was a late arriving crowd and the upper deck filled up in a pretty irregular fashion. The student section was surprisingly (to me) full. It for sure wasn't 40K.

Total reported attendance 49,265. I talked to a number of STM who made use of the "free" tickets.
Maybe they distributed 49K tickets. Looked like 25K actually in the Stadium.

It was a 4 PM rivalry game, nice weather… not sure why so many would skip it. Just seems a bit off if you’re going to spend $1-2k/seat or whatever the donation is these days and then not show up for Big Game.

There were virtually no sections I saw in the upper deck that were "full". At the start of the game the row I sit in had a total of four occupants, me and three Cal fans. A few people arrived a bit later (season ticket holders who hadn't shown up for any games before) but there were plenty of empty seats in section 232. It was much better attended than Utah or even Oregon, but it wasn't 49K.
