Bowser's bomb was deep to center field, and Crampton's squeeze bunt was perfectly executed, beautiful half inning, and could have been more since it took a great diving catch to rob Jones.

Well, All Right Now. We're all square with TSU, except we've used more pitchers. Who do we start tomorrow? Jensen? Maybe Dowd will be available for a few innings as well. And I'm glad that Carter was able to return.

Four of the home teams (seeds) made it through today. Two of the seeds were eliminated. The remaining 10 play tomorrow.
Notre Dame was the only unseeded team to sweep into the super regionals.
Either Arizona or Ole Miss will be another unseeded regional winner at Coral Gables.
UCLA is losing 9-0 to Auburn in a game that was suspended today. A loss will eliminate them.
Oregon was knocked out by Lousiville today.
Oregon will try to rebound against Vanderbilt in Game 7 at Corvallis tomorrow.

This is where losing game #2 really hurts. The pitching staff is stretched. No obviously good options available, and I suspect we'll see around 7 guys pitch. That probably means who starts doesn't mean much.
Guys we're likely to see, but most for no more than an inning:
Dixon. Threw 75pitches vs. Binghamton and didn't pitch particularly well. But has had two days rest and the staff trusts him.
Dowd(?). only threw 51 pitches yesterday and was fairly effective. Texas State hasn't seen him.
O'Rourke. Threw 29 pitches vs. Binghamton. Didn't pitch well but has had two days rest.
Jensen (no regional appearance), Fleischli, Meier all fresh.
I thought Pancer was looking tired at the end yesterday. He's thrown 77 pitches over Fri/Sun so perhaps not.
Bruno a likely late inning appearance.
Williams for a late inning appearance.
[I am worried about Williams. His last two appearances were rough - by his standards. His changeup was hanging and his fastball was left out arm-side - which was a real problem versus right handers as the outside pitches became midplate meatballs and inside pitches hit guys. I hope he isn't just worn out.]

They have two relatively frequent starters who haven't seen any action yet (Bush, Sundgren), but both have ERAs over 7. Sundgren hasn't appeared in over a month so may not be healthy.
Hoping Stanford's bats are alive tonight, and we don't need 2 hits for every run scored.

I doubt Texas State uses Wood. Two days rest is not much after throwing 105 pitches. Their pitcher who I suspect will do most of the heavy lifting is Triston Dixon. They've primarily used him as a reliever but he has some length as he has four appearances of at least four innings. He also has good numbers - 58.1 IP, 2.93 ERA, 56 K's, 50 hits allowed, 14 BB. So far, he's only thrown 7 pitches in the regional and that came on Friday. I'd think he'd be preferable for them compared to Bush or Sundgren.

That does appear a more logical choice for them, especially if they are looking for somebody to be a more traditional starter (i.e. go 5 innings or more).
I see some of their fans are advocating for them to start their All American closer Stivors and see how far he can go. I don't know if that is likely or not.

Pitching depth is part of being a championship level team. If you can't overcome a loss, you really don't deserve to advance, so it kind of takes care of itself.
But I presume Stanford playing its 5th game in 4 days has an advantage facing a "small school" playing its 4th game in 4 days. Both teams have depleted pitching, but Stanford has an exceptionally more potent lineup. This should carry Stanford into the Super Regional.

It certainly may be that Stanford doesn't deserve to advance, I guess by definition that's correct if they don't advance, but a discussion on the state of the pitching staff is merely dealing with reality.
Your presumption on relative advantage isn't correct. Stanford, with its particular pitching staff and the pitching it has used over the past four games, is currently at a disadvantage versus this particular "small school" and its pitching staff and the pitching it has used over the past three games. Now hopefully, that is only a relative disadvantage versus their own optimal situations - but it is something Stanford will have to deal with.
The issue isn't really losing a game, the issue is losing one of the first two so that you have to play one more game than your opponent to get out of the regional, and 5 games in four days. College teams are built for playing weekend series of three games, and about half the time they add a midweek game against an out of conference opponent. The three game weekly series is how the season works, how super-regionals work, how the championship series works. However, regionals require as many as 5 games in 4 days. [The first half of the CWS also could require 5 games, but it is spread out over 8 days] Sometimes you have a pitching staff deep enough for 5 games, sometimes you don't. That isn't necessarily fair or unfair, but it is a thing.
