Giants sure do like them catchers. They claimed Jose Godoy off waivers from the Mariners. 40 plate appearances last year. Hit .285 in AAA Tacoma, has been improving last few years.
Seiya Suzuki has had interest from a dozen teams. Top five are mariners, Giants, Dodgers, Cubs and Red SOx. Nikkan Sports (Japanese outlet) named Seattle, SF, Chicago and Boston as most likely.

Watching this season the 1.5 games or so played by Trey Lance I believe he will be effective and I don't know why the team seems so hesitant to let him play QB.

On the other side of the ball, Niners signed former KC Chiefs CB Charvarious Ward to a 3 year deal. $42 mms., $26.7 mms. guaranteed. Signing Ward over Gilmore means they're thinking long term. All three of their CBs are under age 26.
Niners also extended DL Kevin Givens, RB JaMycal Hasty, DL Maurice Hurst, OL Colton McKivitz, QB Nate Sudfield, OL Jake Brendel.
Niners signed 11 to Reserve/Future contracts including Stanford's Curtis Robinson and Connor Wedington..

There's more competition out there for QB spots than many think. My prediction (if SF gets no bites, which is possible): Jimmy picks a team where path to PT is reasonable, gets way less $$ than he would under current deal with SF, and then may play pretty well for said team (assuming he is healthy). Jimmy G.'s health is the big wild card - when he's fully healthy, he is a near-excellent QB; when not, he is very pedestrian.
Pittsburgh picking up Trubisky was a great move. Think he will thrive with the Steelers. He has the raw tools, and his mileage is very low.
