I DGAF what the Giants W-L record is the rest of the season. At this point I hope they lose every game to get better draft position in 2023, but I do care about the development of players who might be on the team in 3 seasons...

As for the prospects, most the info I get is on The Athletic. As I don’t see them in person, or for that matter, on TV, I don’t have much to add to what I read. Obviously hoping that we see much of that list at SF by ‘24. Not sure we see much of it prior to then. Perhaps Ramos if he picks it up at Sac. Maybe Harrison sometime next year if he continues his fast progression.

Melissa Lockard recently interviewed the Giants farm director in The Athletic. One thing he said that stood out to me was it's possible Vaun Brown could be moved up to Richmond this month. He is being touted as a 5-tool player and has caught the eye of scouts across MLB who wonder how the Giants found him.
The other thing that stood out was a little info on 1st rd pick Reggie Crawford. The Giants are going to develop him as a Shohei Ohtani type, giving him opportunity to DH and Pitch. But I've seen some scouting reports that say it's possible he becomes a reliever. The fact Crawford can hit before he can throw, means he'll get a lot of time to develop his plate skills while recovering from TJ. How cool would it be to have a closer who is an every day DH? Obviously a long, long way to go, but the most intriguing prospect the Giants have had in my memory.

Brown took a leap his junior year in college, then another his senior year in college, and is currently scalding the ball in San Jose with a .347/.428/.636/1.064 line. Hope he continues to progress.

21-75 with 5 HRs since coming back. Plus he looks like a different hitter. Still gonna strike out a lot. But the quality of his PAs have improved dramatically.

The whole reason I am here is to share opinions and ideas with others. I DGAF about what anyone thinks about me here, but I am interested to see what others think about the topics discussed here, otherwise I wouldn't be here.

Alex Wood got his 8th win, a 1-0- masterpiece. Padres struck out 15 Giants , including Slater and Bart twice each and new Giant JD Davis 3 times. Longoria, Davis, Crawford singled in consecutive at bats, bases juiced, no outs.
Giants are 54-55, one game under .500, but 5.5 back of the Padres for the last wild card slot. Estrada sac fly to center for the only run. Bart walked, loading the bases again, Gonzales struck out, Slater grounded out to first. Fun game at Petco tonight.

The Padres are PRETENDERS. I didn't believe the Soto trade was going to all of a sudden make them legit contenders. It was really confusing to me why all the commentators were talking about getting Soto as some key to post-season relevance for a few years. Yes, he's a great hitter, but since when has having the best hitter been the key to World Series wins?
You know what's key to post season relevance? Having Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer as your 1 & 2 starters. It's one thing to get smoked by the Fodgers in L.A. It's quite another to be silenced into a bagel at home against the Giants. Maybe given how dominant Wood is at Petco Park, the Padres should have traded for him instead of Soto.
Nothing epitomizes the Padres more than the highlight I saw of Machado loafing out of the box after hitting a ball that would bounce off the wall in RF, and being held to a single. The Padres are the Cal Football of MLB, always clamoring for respect they haven't earned on the field, and always failing when the spotlight is on them when they have the opportunity for a breakthrough. They now trail the Phillies in the WC and are just 1 game up on the Brewers for WC #3. LOL if they miss the playoffs.

The Padres are the Cal Football of MLB, always clamoring for respect they haven't earned on the field, and always failing when the spotlight is on them when they have the opportunity for a breakthrough. They now trail the Phillies in the WC and are just 1 game up on the Brewers for WC #3. LOL if they miss the playoffs.
Well, it was key to the Nats winning the WS.
Soto, Drury, Bell and Hader madke the Pads significantly better. And gives them a better shot.
I’m not gonna make a judgment about 5 games. Takes awhile to mesh sometimes. Tatis back in a couple weeks should help. So,it’s a tad early to bury the Pads. You also miss the fact that they have elite pitching. They will, I believe, put it together and get hot.
But it’s hard to see anyone beating the Dodgers. 74-33. And they have May, Trienen and probably Buehler coming back. Only question is if Gonsolin and Anderson are truly this good. But if they fade, May and Buehler can step in. It’s disgusting how the Dodgers are.

You know what's key to post season relevance? Having Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer as your 1 & 2 starters. It's one thing to get smoked by the Fodgers in L.A. It's quite another to be silenced into a bagel at home against the Giants. Maybe given how dominant Wood is at Petco Park, the Padres should have traded for him instead of Soto.
Nothing epitomizes the Padres more than the highlight I saw of Machado loafing out of the box after hitting a ball that would bounce off the wall in RF, and being held to a single. 1-5. Beat the Rockies his first night on the team (he went 2/5), then lost five in a row. Lost the last series game to the Rockies, swept by the Dodgers, lost to Giants last night. The problem's not Soto, he's 6/20 with a pair of walks since he joined them.
