Dodgers are about to experience the same, I suspect...
I wish you were right. But the Dodgers still have one of the best farm systems in baseball. They may drop some -particularly if they lose Tr Turner. But I bet they sign a big FA. Rodon perhaps. And they’ve done it now in the regular season for 10 years. Course they choke like the dogs they are come playoffs. Still no true Championship since ‘88.
Well. Friedman has stated the their salary situation is “unsustainable”. Look for LA to cut back this off-season. Goodbye Bellinger and maybe Turner and/or Kershaw. Hello to guys from their very fat farm system. They definitely need reinforcements to shore up their rotation. Rodon? Might be too rich for them.
Bottom line for the Dodgers - too much emphasis on the regular season not enough on what is needed to win a short series. As Sabean used to say (paraphrasing) - just get me to the playoffs and everything will be fine. SF proved that to be the case with great pitching, timely hitting and a solid defense.
The top 4 seeds in the NL are gone. Sabes was right!
(Oops, error, error, this really should be in the Giants thread).
