At tonight's exhibition game I'm going to be paying attention to Cam at her new position. I'm going to looking for the following:
1)- Where she initially positions herself; whether it's consistently on the perimeter or does she mix it up.
2)- How many touches she gets in the offensive sets and what she does when she gets the ball.
3)- Movement without the ball and whether her teammates look for her and find her.
4)- Where her shots are coming from: 3-pointers, mid-range, drives to the paint, post-ups.
5)- How many defensive and offensive rebounds she gets. (Tara said she wants more rebounding and Cam was our best rebounder and offensive rebounder)

I’m hoping to see Cam get the ball away from the basket, take a couple of dribbles and then shoot a short jumper. That is the key shot for WNBA superstars Breanna Stewart and Aja Wilson. They usually don’t get all the way for a layup because post defenders (usually several of them) are keyed in on them but they take and make those shots a lot because they are pretty much unguardable at their height.

I didn’t read through every case, but it seems like the only teams whose “best case” is a national title are South Carolina and Stanford. If so, that seems like a profound lack of imagination. To me, while South Carolina is the favorite, and it is reasonable to think that Stanford has a good chance, the “best case” for a fair number of teams (my guess is that roughly the top 10) can reasonably hope to win a title.

I'm only looking ahead to Monday, November 7th. San Diego State is undersized, but they'll be a step up or two from Vanguard. Will be interesting to see our perimeter defense among other things.

My guess is that it is less than 50%. I think South Carolina is rightly the favorite, and I like Stanford's chances if certain things get figured out. But if I had to bet, I think I would put my money on "the field".

Sorry, I missed your earlier post. Yes, same thought. I think it's a very wide open year. Sure, there are always favorites but parity the last few season is real in the women's game.

Thanks for posting. I'd missed this, and found it worth reading. All four commentators have both S Carolina and Stanford in the final four. No one else gets a unanimous prediction for that. I do find the 3 out of 4 saying Stanford will take it all surprise. I think they have a good shot, but much will depend on how people develop, especially the frosh and sophomores. Also interesting, that one person has Haley as player of the year.

Two really good lengthy, feature WBB articles in the SF Chron this morning, one re Cam, the other re the team as a whole going into the 1st game, and both on the 1st page of the Sporting Green. It looks as if we're going to be getting decent coverage in the SF paper this year -- in fact, they've had big, feature, articles on every one of the WBB teams in the Bay Area (Stanford, Cal, USF, Santa Clara, St Marys, and San Jose State).
Maybe, just maybe, this could help attendance.
