One thing I have to say about the athletes at USCLA having to engage in all this travel. Among the primary values of going away to college is the ON CAMPUS experience.  If USCLA athletes have to spend multiple weeks on the road, it greatly takes away from why you go to college in the first place.

I'm interested to see how schools recruiting against USCLA do when time to experience on campus life is considered a priority for a recruit.

This is an excellent point.  Students at major universities, by the way, overwhelmingly hated online instruction, and longed for the in-person experience.  Being deprived of that won't be a net plus for many student-athletes.  I could see this helping Cal recruit against UCLA for certain kinds of students, especially in non football sports that play more often than once a week.  It could be devastating for Cori Close, for example.

LAX to BWI is 4 hr 50 min non-stop (6 hr on the way back due to the jetstream) while LAX to Eugene is 2 hr 20 min and LAX to PDX is 2 hr 30 min.  Moreover the 3 hour time zone difference means that the whole day is pretty much shot.
