We finally got our offense rolling in the 4th quarter, scoring 32 points.

That 4th quarter took care of things, just wish they could have started playing that well sooner. Even got (barely) to a positive assist/turnover ratio (15/14). Only player who didn't score was Fran, and she was barely in. Wish Betts had played more. By the end, a lot of good things in this game, but it took a while! The one positive from the opening tip was our rebounding, totally controlling the boards.

FGCU does not attempt to rebound. Seriously. Part of their analytics. If we did NOT dominate rebounding in this game there would be something very seriously wrong.
Very nice to see Iriafen get on track, even with 4 fouls.
After 6 turnovers in the 1st quarter, we had 8 more the rest of the game.
After shooting so poorly in the 1st quarter, we wound up shooting 52%. Awesome.
After giving up 4/7 treys, we held them to 9/39 the rest of the way, for an overall 28%, after we went to the 1-big over the 2-big sets.
Jump 36 minutes, Jones 33 minutes, Lepolo 32 minutes, no one else over 16.

Only saw the stats and that it was relatively close but we pulled away late. FGCU is a pretty good team. They made the NCAAs last season and often do. They are tough to play with the unorthodox style. Wow, they shot a ton of threes. Nice stats for Jones, good rebound game from the SC struggle. Good to hear that Bosgana did well. I would like to see more of her. Hope Prechtel is ok. I assume she is not in that bad shape since she did travel with the team.

Haley led the team in points (24 pts), rebounds (14) and was second in assists (3) behind Lepolo. She shot 12/18. She was the best player on the floor today.

It is an indication of how the team does against an opponent with a player in. It is influenced by the other players on the court (teammates & opponents). Two players that play the exact same portions of the game will have the same +/-. It is probably most useful comparing players that played, say, about half the game (not fully overlapping).

Sorry for the delayed post. I was at the game and here are my takeaways.
Kiki was a beast. She had FGCU players literally hanging on her arms with put backs and very few fouls. Same with Brink.
I rarely comment on officiating, but 2 of the 3 officials were inconsistent. When Cam was whistled for a foul in the 2nd. Q. making one of her signature moves from the foul line and an FGCU player moving, Tara became furious.
Elena came in and played quality offense and defense.
Another strong game from Talana, but she is not finding open players like Cam or Lauren when they have sealed their defender and calling for the ball. I think she will gain that vision in time.
Indya came in and did well.
When she was on the court, Cam was pumped and played exceptionally well. Foul shooting looked smooth. Same motion and release, but those darn fouls!
As well as Kiki played, it was Haley who put the dagger in in the 4th.
Very hard to defend FGCU. EVERY player who has the ball, then passes,runs back to the perimeter and if we were a tiny bit late defending them, they’d shoot the 3.
Lastly, our size and length began to take a toll on them late in the 3rd and really tired them in the 4th. Their quickness had evaporated.

Morehouse was #4. The not-crashing-the-boards is part of their unorthodox strategy. That is why we had 19 second chance points to their 4, but they had 11 fast break points to our 6.
Their coach is very creative and it is intriguing how he has built such a competitive program around this weird style of play and short players. 30-3 and the second round of the NCAAs is nothing to sneeze at. FGCU is a stronger program than many Pac-12 schools. The FGCU site likes to brag that his winning percentage is higher than Geno's or Tara's--not mentioning (of course) the level of competition.
So who was defending #4?
