Please be true! I never thought he was a good fit for Stanford. Hopefully Stanford lands a coach that will develop Ashton Daniels within the right scheme. 

Stanford fans have seen about 20% of Daniels' talent thus far. He's an excellent athlete who's capable of making every required throw for a D1 QB.

I've been hoping for a QB with his kind of pocket mobility and improvisational ability ever since Hogan departed.

Please be true! I never thought he was a good fit for Stanford. Hopefully Stanford lands a coach that will develop Ashton Daniels within the right scheme.

A QB who can't move or improvise is not a good fit for Stanford. Primarily because Stanford's WRs typically have a hard time getting open "On Time". It's an age old problem. Same other bad fits were Burns, Chryst, and Costello. I never liked any of them coming out of HS for the same reason. 

I especially favor guys like Hogan and Daniels for red zone offense. Their kind of RPO ability expands the playbook in that situation--something that Stanford has really struggled with since Hogan. I'm sick of seeing nothing but corner fade routes.

(2). But I agree with your assessment on the advantage of a true mobile dual-threat QB 100%.

(3). If anyone disagrees with this, look no further than what Bo Nix of Oregon (a Dual-threat QB) did to teams this year (including us), when he was healthy. I believe he took it 70+ yards to the House on us.

(4). Also look at what Max Duggan (of TCU) a dual-threat QB has done this year. He has elevated a slightly above mediocre team (TCU) ...that does not sit at the 5*star recruiting table, & with a mediocre coach, ....to a 12-0 season (he is very similar to Kevin Hogan).  By the way Max Duggan was a 200meter runner in high school.

That said i have seen him anywhere from rd 1 to 5, but I assume a lot of the early rd grades don’t have this last year baked in.

Worst pocket presence of any Stanford QB I can recall. My biggest knock on him is that he makes awful decisions. He should move on, but I don't hink he will cut it in the NFL.

Let's wait to see who Muir hires and what happens with transfer portal, NIL, conference realignment, and tv deal. I'm inclined to think that Stanford football's future is brighter than it looked in 2006. That's not to say we'll replicate or even come close to the Harbaugh miracle. That's exceedingly unlikely. But just in terms of where the program is in talent, mojo, institutional support, etc., we face a daunting task for the next coach but I feel more optimistic about it than I did at the tail end of the Harris era. For one, we've now seen what Stanford football can do with great leadership. Don't despair yet.

This is why it bothered me in the last press conference that Coach Shaw spent so much time saying what great shape Stanford football was in, being so close to a big winning team, and the final straw to me was his claim that but for a running back we'd be getting ready for a bowl game right now. Others have rightfully said that he couldn't / shouldn't have bashed the team while leaving, which I agree.  But he overemphasized and greatly exaggerated his claims as to the great shape of the program IMO.  While this is more of an annoyance than anything really significant, as msqueri rightfully pointed out that if Muir/Shaw/others truly believe this spin/tripe/malarkey, then that is a really serious problem for us.  Because as anyone familiar, either intimately or from a distance, with the 12 steps of AA, the first step in ultimate progress and healing is an absolute recognition and acceptance that right now, things really suck. Bad.  Without that, there is no chance for significant change in the right direction to lead to something good.
