I was concerned about the Defense against the Rams and Giants, and to a degree Cardinals, but the Cowboys game washed it all away. The defense did enough to win against the Browns, but got hosed by the refs in a serious way. Still allowed a journeyman backup to put up too many yards and points. The Vikings game was effectively lost on one bad defensive play call, thought they did not play well in the game overall. And the Bengals was the worst defensive performance since at Las Vegas last year.

The Offense Shanahan personally runs has also had its own problems over the 3-game losing streak. Shanahan is in charge of both D & O, is he not? I will give him a pass for the Bengals game and the players playing poorly, as they are likely to have at least one bad game during a season. But the Browns and Vikings losses were inexcusable for different reasons.

Just as an aside, the NFL did the 49ers no favors this year through scheduling. The 49ers play not just one, not just two, not just three but four of their 17 opponents after their bye week. That includes close losses to the Bengals and Browns, both of whom were coming off of their bye week. And not only did the Browns have two weeks off, but the 49ers played them after just six days, having played on the Monday night prior to the Browns game. And finally, the 49ers will have to play on Christmas Day, a Monday...then will have to play just six days later at the Washington Commanders, another 3,000 mile flight. So...both a short week and a cross country flight.

It's a given that the 49ers travel the second most in the NFL this season, second only to Seattle. This Sunday, they meet the Jaguars after their bye week, same as the 49er bye week...but the 49ers need to travel 3,000 miles to Jacksonville.

And the Niners will have to play on Thanksgiving Day, again drawing the short stick. The Niners are one of only three NFL teams that play twice on Thursday nights this season, week 3 and Thanksgiving. And the other two teams play on Thursday only after a full week of preparation and rest.

Niners got screwed for both the schedule and travel. I think 10-7 is their best possible record at this point.

Niners win if they're rested, if they get Trent Williams back, if Feliciano is no worse than a net neutral at left guard, if Purdy shakes off three tough weeks against three angry aggressive opponents. Jags run the ball fairly well.  Etienne is a good dual threat back.  They defend the run very well.  IMO that is where this game will be won or lost. The Niners philosophy offensively and defensively is predicated on the run.  If they can’t run again this week and they don’t do a better job against a solid running team then they have done the last couple weeks against teams that don’t run particularly well, they will be in trouble. Get Jags in second and third and long. Lawrence makes big throws . He’s also prone to mistakes.

Also, they need to step up on third down.  The defense has to get off the flipping field.  They haven’t been able to the last couple weeks.

Haven't been able to watch the game, but got to like the per-play offensive results. Defense doesn't look terrible but concerned the takeaway numbers are a bit of a sugar high. Still, got to like the overall package on the road against a very solid team.
