Yesterday, I predicted that Stanford's football team would win at least five games (over/under is 3.5) during its inaugural ACC season, in part because I was thinking about body clock performance. Four of Stanford's opponents are coming from the Eastern time zone and will likely kick off the games at 10:30 p.m. body clock time, and a fifth is coming from the Central time zone.
On July 4, 2015, I took my youngest to a Giants vs. Nationals game, the opening game of a road trip for the Giants. To accommodate parking for fireworks, the Nationals got the starting time of the game moved back to 11:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m. body clock time for the Giants. First pitch was actually 11:24. I told my son, prepare for the Giants to get slaughtered...which happened. Baumgarner started and his first six pitches were as follows: home run, double, strike, ball, home run, single. He then got two outs on warning-track flyballs. Giants lost 9-3.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Doval scares the heck out of me and has bad body language on the mound. Rodriguez is absolutely dialed in.
It's the first time since 1998 that the Giants have overcome two 4+ run deficits in two consecutive games.
Chapman was just extraordinary, both in the field and at bat. 3 HRs in three games. Stunning play after stunning play. The closeout was his fielding of a grounder right in front of the shortstop and a laser to first. Perfect. Right now, Chapman has tied for 2nd best career batting average and his best OPS in five years.
Chapman has the 2nd best 3B WAR in MLB, Late Night LaMonte is 3rd best at 1B WAR, Yaz is #4 overall in RF. Pinch hitting is up there, too. The rest...not so great.
Giants OPS is now up #15 in MLB at .699 and #17 in runs scored. Their ERA is #25 and WHIP is #26, so there's room to improve on pitching. They're T15 for most errors.

Doval made his debut in SF as a 23 year old. Rodriguez made his at age 24. Both were international free agents who signed as teenagers. It takes a while to acclimate to living in the US as well as learn how to pitch to professional players.

As for Marco Luciano...he's not ready. MAN, is he not ready. Doesn't run out a grounder, basically jogs into second base. Could have/should have been safe. Fumbles a ninth inning play in the field again. I don't think he'll be sent down, but it wouldn't surprise me. He had a triple, he's hitting .409, which would be best among shortstops...but he's painful to watch in the field and on the basepaths. Four errors in eight games. Yikes.

Luciano’s WAR = 0.5
Ahmed’s WAR = -0.1
Speaking as a big fan of Luciano, I want to see him starting every game at SS with Ahmed (once he is healthy) replacing him late in games in which SF has the lead.
Luciano has a very bright future with SF. The sooner he gets his feet wet at the big league level, the better it will be for him and the team.
He has the potential of being a .300 hitter with power.
There is a reason the Giants have finally come alive offensively - Matos, Ramos and Luciano….
When Slater returns, Ramos may be sent down. When Ahmed returns, I think Luciano will remain with the Giants. We shall see.
As for the base running blunder, a couple conversations with the coaching staff and/or peers will put that problem to rest. I don’t expect to see anything like that again.

He's an okay fielder--he'll never be Patrick Bailey, much less Johnny Bench -- and he's only caught 1 base stealer in 20 attempts, but he has just one error and one passed ball in 18 games, so...good for him. Change of scenery is doing him well. Also a Luciano fan. He consistently hits the ball hard to every field. Only concerning thing is that his glove is occasionally at the wrong angle, like the missed DP yesterday, which leads to an error. That should have been corrected by now.
