Stanford throws the ball and gets the call because it's Stanford WVB.
Fortunately coaches and the selection committee for the most part only look at W or L. They don't have time to watch hundreds of matches. If Stanford can put it together in set four things will be ok despite some pretty poor play at times.

Setting is better with Yu. It's quite obvious watching that the timing of everything offensively is just more fluid with her running the offense.

As Bob says, a win is a win.
But I have come around to the idea that Yu should be the starting setter.
And maybe Ipar Kurt has had her last start.
I hope the Georgia Tech match goes better.

If Yu is the setter going forward, does that take Logan Parks totally out of any rotation? I don't forsee going back to a 6-2 system. Parks is not a better hitter than our current hitters already in rotation.
I almost get the sense part of the reason Blyshov and Kurt are rotating so much still is Hambly is trying hard to keep both players "happy" in getting playing time and equal opportunity while still trying to win. I do wonder how those players actually feel about the situation and having to alternate games and playing time. Winning can sweep aside some of those feelings from the outside but good players expect to be on the court and contributing. Blyshov and Kurt are both good players. It wouldn't surprise me if there were was some friction amongst some players as a result. Are team vibes as high as they've been in some past years? I'm not sure.

Hambly is preparing for life without Rubin when Blyashov and Kurt will be our OH’s. Blyashov will have to pass 6 rotations and Kurt 3. None of this years freshman or next years freshman can pass except for Rolson. So unless she’s some amazing undersized hitter and blocker, she’s probably Kurt’s DS in the back row.

Fubo and ESPN integration is now completely broken; so this is based on the season as a whole….
1. Setter will be interesting. It’s pretty clear that injuries have held Yu back all year including at least 2 stretches of missed games. Parks to me hasn’t been generally awful though she has been inconsistent, but it hasn’t been her amazing play that has kept Yu on the bench. Can Yu stay healthy enough to carry the load or is she just too dinged up this year to start consistently?
2. I think Hambly has been good on the OH subbing. As I said earlier, I didn’t think either player had seized a starting job, but I preferred JB. Over the last 5-6 games though I think Blyashov has differentiated herself from Kurt and the gap is growing. The way Hambly has handled things makes it’s hard for anyone to say or complain much. Both players have had a fair shot, and it would be reasonable to decide JB has come out on top.
3. DS as many have noted has been a big problem and seems to be getting worse. Options:
- play Kirsch
- I repeat try whichever of Yu or Parks isn’t setting.
- just don’t play a DS. I would rather have a pin receiving serve at this point over Pringle. Blyashov for example has been pretty solid lately even against Miami’s crazy serving.
BTW - I get recruiting a top hitter is hard in the NIL era, but how do we not have an even decent DS? And think what a mess things would be without Etzler being awesome day 1 and still improving.

Getting players to put the team's goals ahead of their own personal goals has always seemed (to me) to be one of the coach's toughest jobs. And that would have a lot to do with team chemistry, and success.

Stanford sweeps - first 2 sets were close and the third a runaway. The serving and block wore GT out.
- Parks still starting at setter. Mostly fine today - just a little erratic in sets 1 and 3.
- Blyashov started and was solid. She is starting to show the ability to hit the team out of trouble. That could be a very big deal for the rest of the season. A little up and down in reception like the team as a whole but decent.
- the DS solution today was my option #3 - no DS. Kirsch was a serving specialist in the no libero rotation and Blyashov went 6 rotations. No Pringle at all.
- serving was great. 8 aces and only 7 errors.
- again, reception was a little up and down. Rubin has been just a little off here the last few games. Not terrible, just a little bit off. 2 errors today for Rubin and 5 or 8 for the team - ACC stats don’t add up.
