Thanks. I was curious because I'm from Milwaukee.  Although I did my undergrad work at the "other" big school in town, Marquette, I did have friends who went to UWM. UWM was never known much for sports, so I'm a little surprised to see them even in this tournament.

The UWM women win the very weak Horizon league most years - 8 in a row now. And then lose in the first round of the tournament. To your point, it’s the only sport UW Milwaukee is consistently good at.

Stanford gives up a goal I believe 39 seconds in. Smith fails to contain the cross and 3 players marking nobody give up the goal. Plenty of time, but not a good start. Smith remains a poor 1v1 defender.

Not a great half but hey they are ahead. Some concerning trends carried over from the ACC tournament though.

- Nguyen’s corners have been far better then Bhuta’s.
- Boamah was a big step up at LB.
- Again not enough from L/RF
- Aikey not sharp so far though she can easily conjure up a a couple of goals even on an off day.

Does Cal Poly try to tie this up or are they ok with just losing by less?

Tennessee is the biggest loss though really not that surprising - see above. The real surprise for me is Lipscomb beating 6 seed MSU. The only other losing seed was Georgia and they were just an 8 seed and up against a big 10 team in OSU. Power conferences dominated as is typical, and you really don’t want an unseeded ACC or big 10 team as your opening game. The next round will really start to show though if the Big 10 and ACC are dominant again this year.
