A website called athletes.org is conducting an online survey of college athletes in any sport:

Stanford currently ranks #51 out 59 schools for which the website has collected data. The most notable low rating --2.7 out of 5--is for NIL support.


NB 1: One of the schools for which the website has collected data is Academy of Art University (San Francisco), which suspended its varsity athletics program a year ago. 

NB 2: There are several non-college institutions that are on the survey list with an insufficient number of survey responses. These include Fishers High School (IN), Goose Creek Memorial (TX), Green Bay Packers (NFL), Laingsburg High School  (MI), etc. My guess is that the high schoolers are committed but not yet enrolled in their college.

I didn't bother signing up to read actual comments from Stanford athletes or anyone else, since I don't consider this to be a serious effort at measuring college athletes' opinions of their schools. Of greater concern is whether or not this website/organization has any pull with prospective or current Stanford athletes.

Here's an article on the survey from SF Gate.  I was just on the SF Gate site a few hours ago and didn't see the article and believe it was just put on line since, despite being tagged with yesterday's date. 

The premise and methodology of said survey sound a bit specious to me as well - regardless, the optics aren't flattering.

Here's an article on the survey from SF Gate.  I was just on the SF Gate site a few hours ago and didn't see the article and believe it was just put on line since, despite being tagged with yesterday's date.

Is it revealed anywhere the number of responses needed to rank a school? I suspect it's a very small number of athletes from a few sports.  It's doubtful there were players from all of Stanford sports who responded.

And looking at the registration form, it requires a personal email rather than an institutional email. It would be real easy to, say, sign up as Azzi Fudd (assuming she hasn't already signed up).

Sometimes you get these ridiculous surveys based on a small number of respones. I remember seeing a popular ranking of firms in my profession, and my firm didn't fare well. I knew the survey's sponsor, and he had based the rank on responses from eight companies, none of which were in our Top 200 clients.
