Why is this shocking? If I'm still working past 70, something has gone horribly wrong. (Or....horribly right!) Kudos to her for leaving the grind to enjoy retirement while healthy. More kudos for waiting until after the title game to announce anything, and for not doing a farewell tour, which to be honest, would have been weird in a new league.
Seems like a good time to me. She got the third title, the sport has radically changed, and there is some writing on the wall about traveling three time zones to get ACC sand kicked in the face. Not a stretch to see Stanford as the next Tennessee, or worse, the next ODU. She has better things to do than that.
