We’re using ghost or slip screens a lot more at the elbow. They sometimes look like missed screens but the intent is to make the defender think she’s being screened but the supposed screener slips inside instead. Where the screen should look solid is when we set a down screen, or a stagger, or run horns, etc, although a slip screen also works if you’re running horns.. Draymond sets slip screens with Curry all the time.
I suspect the current popularity of the slip is the it reduces the likelihood that you’re picking up an offensive foul, which has been a big problem for us in recent seasons.
