If Duke had a great field goal kicker we'd be trailing Duke at halftime. If their field goal kicker were even adequate we'd be up by one. Freakin' DUKE, people!
To give credit, Duke has played well and Stanford looked totally unprepared for a fake punt and an onside kick. Still, we don't look anything like a #6 in the country. Defense has played decently, but given up big plays on 3rd and 4th downs consistently. The run game has been just OK. Luck has been put on his butt more times than probably all of last year, and although he's doing fine he's missed a few receivers. He hasn't been helped by significant drops from Whalen and Owusu. All in all we look out of sync, tired, and not ready to beat Duke, much less any Pac-12 teams.
David Shaw has his first leadership moment as a head coach. Even playing this crappy we probably have enough of a talent advantage to win this game. However, we can't let it be close at the end. Remember what happened a few years ago on our trip to Wake Forest. A true top-ten caliber team will come out of the locker room at halftime and flatten these guys.
