So I'm hopeful that it was our team's exceptional talent that made us look so dominating at times (and not their lack of talent). Anyway, there's a lot of discussion about defense/offense and our guards in the game. Here's what the Analytics say:
DRtg: points allowed by a player per 100 possessions
EMMA-NNOPU,A 121.6 (13 min)
PAPADAKI,S 121.6 (5 min)
GREEN,L 121.6 (3 min)
JUMP,H 112.4 (21 min)
JONES,H 96.3 (23 min)
HARRIEL,J 91.8 (13 min)
LEPOLO,T 84.8 (21 min)
BOSGANA,E 57.1 (15 min)
NIVAR,I 47.1 (13 min)
So if defense is your priority these stats support Emma-Nnopu as a starter. But it's also her second negative net points game in a row (though she wasn't alone):
can you help me understand this rating? i would think that, for a defender, the lowest points allowed per 100 possessions should be the best. agnes has the highest and you are saying that supports her starting. i must be missing something. thanks.
Same question for me as well. Also, that stat can't mean too much given the next two after Emma-Nnopu are Papadaki and Green, who did not play much and played very late in the game when seemed like SDSU was scoring more, not less. It would surprise me that Nivar was rated a poor defender. Sure did not look that way.
Lower is indeed better for Defensive Rating (Drtg):

Here's an explanation for ORTG as well:

Here are the current stats per HerHoopStats.com:

Per these stats, Cam and Indya had the best defensive performances yesterday and it wasn't close. Talana was 3rd best and the only other player under 70, but also, at 69.0, was much closer to the rest of the pack. Everyone not named Cam, Indya or Talana ranged between 71.5-86.1 in DRTG.
For ORTG, Fran was highest (200) because she took 1 shot and made it in 5 min. of play. Talana was 2nd (181.6), presumably because of all her assists. Cam (178.3) was just barely 3rd, and Betts (175.6) was just barely behind Cam (also presumably due to efficient use of time on the floor).
Jzaniya, Brooke, Elena, Hannah, and Indya were all pretty close together, ranging between 162.3 (Jzaniya) and 139.5 (Indya). Haley was a little lower than usual (probably) at 124.6, but the most surprising to me is Kiki (94.7)—I would have assumed that her ORTG would have been much higher with her stat line (7-8 shooting, 2-2 FT, 16 points). I guess the 4 TOs and 4 fouls worked against her.
Stavi Papadaki (76.6) actually had a better ORTG than Agnes (25.4). So, not Agnes' best game. Green didn't have much of a shot to show her game—she tied for last in DTRG and was the only player with no points, rebounds, assists or shots taken and therefore no ORTG.
