It has been only 2 weeks since we last played Cal. I won't repeat the information in the last preview which can be found here:

However, since we defeated Cal at Maples 90-69, we went on to beat both Arizona schools, while Cal lost narrowly to Arizona and beat ASU rather handily. In its Arizona game, Cal outscored Arizona in both the 3rd and 4th quarters and tied the game late in the fourth, but then fell short. If they had not dug a 13 point hole for themselves in the first half when Arizona's defense flustered them, they could easily have prevailed. They had 4 players in double digits.
Against ASU Cal's defense surged in the second half and held ASU to 8 points in the 4th quarter, and Cal broke open a close game and won 74-61.
While we know Cal's 2 speedy guards well, two bigs for Cal are beginning to emerge for them. In the ASU game Claudia Langarita, a 6'4" sophomore from Spain, came off the bench for 14 points. And 6'3" Michelle Onyiah is proving to be a strong defender. Those two have not started a game this year, but between the two of them are recently taking about 40 minutes. So Cal has been developing some offensive and defensive height in recent games, and is becoming more balanced than previously.
Yes, Stanford should be favored over Cal, but we are entering into the "any given day" territory now. While some teams just have no realistic chance to knock us off on any day, Cal does have such a chance. Cal is plenty good enough if we turn the ball over, get into a shooting slump, get into foul trouble, etc. Those sorts of things are more likely away than at home, so nothing should be taken for granted.
In our last game Jones destroyed the Cal defense in the first half, and Jump went off in the second. I presume that Cal will defend both of them better than last time. I would look for different people--maybe Brink, Iriafen, or someone off the bench--to have a good day on Sunday.
