I was out of town for the game and only got to see the (full) replay on Sunday night.  Once agaih Ann Schatz confuses Haley Jones (IIRC, she called her Hannah Jones in one of the early games this year) for Hannah Jump at the end of the 1st half ("Hannah! ... Hannah!"  as Haley got the ball near the baseline with 2 seconds left and threw up a long shot.) 

Would love a hybrid of Hannah Jump's shooting with Haley Jones size, athleticism, and playmaking capabilities.

She plays off her assignment and gives the offensive player plenty of opportunities. But she also, because of it, is good on help defense. And significantly she has unusual rebounding numbers for a 6’1” player.

On re-watching the game, it appears that our switching D is a man-zone combo.  Jones frequently looks like she's playing an area rather than a specific opposing player.  

There is no arguing that our defense has been highly successful.  Tara seems to be dialing it in to match our personnel.  My guess is that the bench players that are pulled quickly, sometimes after just a minute or two, are not executing the defense Tara wants to play.

Shooting a mid-range jump shot off the dribble is hard because you need 1) good shooting ability and 2) good body control to stop and go straight up and not let your momentum cause you to drift.  Jones needs some of Jump’s shooting ability and Jump needs some of Jones’ body control.  Standing mid-range jumpers are easier because it’s sort of like a free throw.   I’m glad Brink is taking them (even though they aren’t going in as often as we would like) because that is the shot elite defenses will give her and we need her to make them to win a Final Four/National championship.  Similarly, Boston probably has to make some of them for South Carolina and Edwards for UConn.

I do hope you watched the presser and saw the element of humor in that answer.  Tara is trying to encourage all the perimeter players to shoot the ball when they are open since she knows that they are excellent shooters in practice and they obviously need to gain in-game confidence so their shots will fall when taken under stress.  It was a lighthearted moment between Tara and Cam about doing everything possible to encourage her teammates to heat up the outside game with the knowledge that it will make Cam's job easier.
