Funny that the game turned around last night after I bumped this thread at halftime. You're welcome.

Then again, Shaw didn't let him play. Remember, it took years for Stanford students to learn Shaw's playbook. [insert eyeroll here.]

Listening to TT's comments on Ayomanor, Coach said Ayomanor needed confidence. So maybe the redshirt, and to be performing at this level in his first playing year, was exactly what he needed for his development. And if one wants to fault Shaw for not playing him last year, why has Coach Taylor had him even with Farrell on the depth chart?
IMO at least, let's give credit to Coach Taylor for his halftime adjustments and helping keep the team motivated going into the second half. And let's give Coach Shaw and Coach Kennedy credit for recruiting plenty of playmakers for Coach Taylor to be able to coach (while not absolving the previous staff for the decline from 2019-2022).

I don’t want to be too snarky but I am finding it utterly bizarre the hot takes/volume of takes on Stanford football from people who don’t appear to follow the team very closely. Ayomanor had a catastrophic knee injury before the season last year. Is that not common knowledge on this board?

Sorry to hear about Ayomanor's injury last year (makes his performance yesterday all the more remarkable). I admittedly haven't been following the team as closely as I previously did pre-2020 (because last season, or the last few seasons, didn't exactly have many positives aside from the upset win at Notre Dame to write home about).

That's the thing. That approach preserved eligibility -- sure -- but in the modern college football era, maximizing eligibility only matters for those with no place else to go. No idea if last night was a fluke or not, but if #13 continues playing half as well as he did last night, he won't be on the team in 2026. We'd be lucky to have him in '25.

My comments were more about the philosophy than that particular player. 53-season butt-in-seat fan here, and I follow as closely as life events and my old brain are able. One of the things I like about this board is the civility that members show each other. If my post touched a nerve that prompted your snark, my apologies.

My compliments to Ayomanor's medical and rehab team. He looked 100% out there in the 2H.
