Softball team beat #1 Texas.
Beach Volleyball team beat #1 USC.
Women's Lacross team beat #7 Virginia. First time Lacross has ever beaten Virginia.
Women's golf recently won a tournament by about 38 stokes. The freshman recruits and next year's recruits are off the chart good.
Women's volleyball team is doing exceptionally well in recruiting for the next two years.
What? No mention of women's water polo? Currently #1, and handling #2 U$C 10-6 and crushing #3 UCLA 14-4 last weekend!
Stanford has about 4 teams that could continue the consecutive NC streak - WWP, women's golf, men's gymnastics, women's rowing. That's about it. No one else really close.
Women's water polo looks very good right now, with the return of 5 players who took last year off to train for the Olympics.
Men's gymnastics is the 5 time returning NCAA champ. Currently ranked #2.
Women's golf has won 2 of the last 3 NCs. Currently ranked #2.
Rowing has finished 2nd at NCAAs three of the last four years. They won the other year. Season begins in about a month.
Agreed, WWP the most likely team to win a title for Stanford this year. Men's gym has had a dominant run, but they are not looking as good this season, with losses to tOSU and Oklahoma. If we can get fully healthy for NCAAs, we're good, but it's a big if.
If women's golf was pure stroke play, I'd say we're a large favorite. Match play makes for some unpredictability though Walker has been good for us in this format.
Women's rowing lost some good rowers last season. Texas is still the favorite.
Hope we win all four and I eat my words!
In case there was any doubt, it's now official.
