The ACC commissioner Phillips (former Northwestern AD) was all in on Stanford joining, but he had 3 or 4 recalcitrant members. Those schools weren’t concerned about Stanford’s football prowess; they were concerned about how their slice of the pie would be affected. Stanford is not getting nothing like SMU.
