Looks like 2 seasons ago the starter Donald Hammond was injured for a few games and eased back in a bit, then last season remained healthy.

I was just about to say the same thing. I don't remember seeing a #0. In the last decade I remember our numbers starting at #2 since #1 is retired.
The QBs have been numbered anywhere in the single digits or teens a la NFL numbering. Factoring in the retirements of #7 and #16, and the unofficial retirement of #12, we still have #18 and #19 available.

Only NCAA football has had a recent rule change from disallowing to allowing them. Does anyone know if college football allowed #0 in the past? Cal's web page about Johnny Olszewski shows him wearing 36 in college.

I love the Cardboard so don't take this as a negative comment, but this is a pretty typical thread where we have pretty big news (first grad transfer in a few years) and there are only a couple comments on the football impact and three times as many comments talking about history (of jersey numbers in this case).

Sanders did have a couple great games in 2018 when he started against UNLV (awful defense) and Boise State (very good defense).

Oddball statistic for the 1927 Yanks. Pitching staff strikeout leader Waite Hoyt only struck out 86 in 256 innings. Other pitching oddity is that they used a five man rotation (Hoyt, Pennock, Shocker, Ruether, Pipgras) with Wilcy Moore and Myles Thomas making starts when the other starters needed a day off.
BTW, the OPS for the 1927 Yanks was legendary. I left their OPS by each name in parens.

I guess it's good to have an another available QB. But I'm a bit skeptical about whether he will ever play meaningful snaps for us. Maybe he could see the field as a change-of-pace guy who can run the option in short yardage situations or something like that?

Actually...and this is assuming there's a season in 2020 (which strikes me as unlikely)...I think this is a big acquisition. Why? Because, as excited as I am about Davis Mills, if he makes it through an entire season without missing significant time due to injury, it will be his first. And, I doubt Shaw breaks with his history of not playing true freshmen QBs (McKee.) That leaves us with West...which is why I'm grateful to have this transfer.
UPDATE: just watched these highlights and I'm pretty excited about this kid. He looks like he could be a Pac-12 starter to me. Granted, these were just highlights but he certainly appears to have some game. He should make a heck of a back-up.

Now players can play a number of games without using a year of eligibility. As I type this I don't know how that will play out if a season gets reduced from 12 games down to 7 or 8 if an outbreak emerges in the USA in mid-October.
Also, for a true freshman it would seem almost ideal to get them some real game experience while also removing noisy bands and fans from the stands.
