Yeah, I should have been more clear. 2020 is all they committed to going without. I think it would be a logistical nightmare to try to squeeze basketball, football, and spring sports all into winter and spring 2021. They should just let it go.

Yeah, I should have been more clear. 2020 is all they committed to going without. I think it would be a logistical nightmare to try to squeeze basketball, football, and spring sports all into winter and spring 2021. They should just let it go.

NASCAR more impressionable than College Football cases?
Yes, because NASCAR is racing right now.   If an outbreak stopped NASCAR that would directly impact those red hay types immediately.   

Clemson, Alabama and LSU players getting sick isn't a big deal as long as the teams can play and win from September - November.   If the region has an outbreak that causes the SEC to cancel games than that would be a much bigger deal.   Definitely agree that college football cancellations would be a bigger game changer if/when it happens.

I tend to doubt it would change the rate of spread or cause people to rush to get masks at this point.   Rather some in The South would understand that even if the deaths largely were in big blue northern urban centers, COVID can still have an impact their lives and livelihood.

P.S.  Per article, Johnson never experienced any symptoms . . . hard to see that profile as a game changer.

Over the past few weeks, teams around the NFL have been trying to figure out what their stadium capacity should be for the upcoming season, and if the Baltimore Ravens are any indication, it's starting to look like NFL stadiums are going to be mostly empty this year. The Ravens announced on Wednesday that the capacity at M&T Bank Stadium will be set to just 14,000, which is an 81.3% cut from the stadium's normal capacity of roughly 71,000.

Waiting to hear next from Group of Five teams who generally rely on that check for playing Power 5 teams.

I still think CFB will happen this fall, but the statements from administrators coming out in the last few days certainly have enough pessimism to give me some doubt. Ultimately, I think the players and coaches still want to play and that will be a big factor we'll hear more about in the coming days (similar to Harbaugh's comments). If I'm wrong about that, that's when the dam truly is breaking.

The comments from Ohio State AD Gene Smith yesterday put me in the more likely to not have college football than have college football camp. He sounded quite pessimistic. If he is saying this publicly, I can only imagine what is being said privately.
