I am surprised, but Utah also losing certainly helped us.  Charlie Creme has often been too pro-Stanford in the past, so I will believe this when I see it.  It would help if as many projected 2 seeds lose as possible. 

Other than Utah, all three projected 2s play today.

Iowa plays Maryland today, I think we hope for Maryland to beat down Iowa.  If Iowa wins, their resume for a 1 seed goes up. 

Similarly, hope for Tennessee to beat LSU today, to keep LSU from threatening to move up.

Hopefully Duke beats Virginia Tech.

I imagine Iowa has the best shot at grabbing the 1 seed from us--or maybe LSU.  In any case, we should know a lot more after today.

Fun fact: In 2022 years, we have lost in the Pac12 tournament SIX  times. In those years, only one Stanford team ended up reaching the Final 4 (2014). 

I don't think it's likely we make a deep run this year. At this point; our team is what it is. We've had 33 games to figure it out so why would things suddenly change overnight. 

Let's just enjoy what's left of this season and support our team.

I am not quite sure what you consider a deep run, but any team that is either a one seed, or is in serious consideration for a one seed, has at least a reasonable chance of making the final four. 

Outside of South Carolina and perhaps Indiana, there are a bunch of teams that can beat each other or lose to each other on any given day depending on if shots are dropping, how the ball bounces, and the calls made. 33 games show that Stanford is in that mix. There's enough teams in that group that it looks like less than 50% Stanford would end up in the final four, but it's not 5% either.

But I can also see the team giving us a string of closer than comfortable wins en route to a third consecutive Final Four trip as well. Let's face it, if we are going to make a deep postseason run, it will be our defense that will carry us through. Our offense is not scaring anyone at this point. We'll have to prepare for closer than usual victories, potentially even in the first couple rounds and then have a lot of antacids ready starting in the second weekend.

A lot of the other potential #1 or #2 seeds that we could play in the Elite 8 could knock us out -- besides South Carolina, which is obvious and I don't think we would be matched in the same quarter of the bracket as they would -- Indiana, Maryland, UConn, LSU, Iowa and Virginia Tech, I think Indiana, UConn and Iowa would be most formidable for us to face.

Yup. Look at our losses in the past two months. Washington who’s not a projected tourney team. USC projected as a 10 seed. UCLA projected as a 4/5 seed. We could be playing a 10 seed in the second round. It’s not a lock we make it out of the second round. It’s going to be a major challenge IMO to win 2 or even 3 NCAA tourney games let alone more.

Yup. Look at our losses in the past two months. Washington who’s not a projected tourney team. USC projected as a 10 seed. UCLA projected as a 4/5 seed. We could be playing a 10 seed in the second round. It’s not a lock we make it out of the second round. It’s going to be a major challenge IMO to win 2 or even 3 NCAA tourney games let alone more.

If the committee cared about out of conference strength of schedule, Utah would not have appeared on that one line. Their out of conference schedule was cupcake city with only Oklahoma as a ranked opponent. In-conference, they beat their share of ranked opponents so that must carry some weight.

If Utah’s out of conf is a joke, LSU’s out of conf schedule was the whole circus. I know they didn’t play a tourney team and in conference they only beat Arkansas, when Arkansas was ranked. Arkansas is on the bubble and I think Oregon’s out of conference strength of schedule would put them in before Arkansas. LSU wasn’t competitive with S.Carolina the first time around. UCLA and Stanford were within single digits. So the committee must be going by the “eye test” with LSU and they’ve looked better in the last several weeks and will likely play S.Carolina in the SEC championship game. If they are competitive, maybe they rise above the 2 line but it’s not rational to award two SEC teams #1 seeds and the conference is down this year relative to the Big10 and ACC and PAC-12.
